Gemma Collins concerned at girls undergoing invasive beauty treatments

The Diva Forever star, 41, who is engaged to her businessman fiancé Rami Hawash, is no stranger to touching up her looks but said she decided to stop when her mother said she no longer recognised her.

Gemma Collins said she finds it sad that young girls try to adhere to impossible beauty standards, saying it is upsetting to her that they are ‘cloning themselves’.

Former TOWIE star Gemma told the Mirror: ‘It’s really sad all these young girls today absolutely cloning themselves – you can’t tell them apart now.

She added that she feels social media creates a false perception of what beauty is, saying: ‘Beauty is what you see in the mirror every day.’

‘I’ve had filler before, I’ve been sucked in like a vacuum and tried it but the turning point was when my mum said to me “I don’t recognise what my daughter looks like anymore”.’

Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Gemma now only has non-surgical treatments such as cryotherapy – the use of extreme cold to freeze or remove abnormal tissue.

Gemma often shares clips of herself undergoing the procedure online to show her fans they do not have to have more invasive treatments in a bid to look good.

She says the procedure helps with her water retention, a symptom of her Polycystic ovary syndrome.

While she is yet to make plans for their nuptials, she hopes to have a winter ceremony at Claridge’s Hotel in London.

Meanwhile, Gemma opened up about her wedding plans to fiancé Rami, who she first started dating in 2011.

However, it could be a while before Gemma says ‘I do’ to Rami, as she has previously admitted she wants to wait until she’s older to get married.

Gemma first got engaged to Rami in 2013 but they split a year later, prompting Gemma to move on with her former TOWIE co-star James Argent.

The GC also opened up about being a step mum to Rami’s son Tristan – whom he has with his ex-wife Fernanda – and said they have found a ‘healthy balance’ in the situation.

She told OK! magazine: ‘I’m a free spirit, honey! I won’t tie the knot until I’m about 50. I’m an eternal free spirit. I’ll be in Hollywood by then, darling, so it’s best not to … I never think long-term. It’s always like I live for each day!’

She explained: ‘We’ve got a very healthy situation. I feel like parents splitting up is deemed such a failure in life, but it doesn’t need to be. I’m sure there’s emotion involved and it’s upsetting for people, but I just think there needs to be some kind of moving on – like, don’t be at war with everyone. It’ll happen in its own time.’
