‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’: A Reality TV Editor Explains When Fans Can Expect the Rest of Season 4

Showbiz Cheat Sheet connected with a reality TV editor who works on MTV shows. She filled us in on how quickly fans could get the new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Fortunately, it could be sooner than you might think!

After a tumultuous season 3, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation turned things around in season 4. Thankfully, the roommates appear to have moved on from the drama surrounding Angelina Pivarnick’s wedding. By the end of their Las Vegas trip, all was well between Pivarnick, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, and Deena Cortese. Now, the family can have fun in the second half of the season, which is currently filming.

TMZ reports the roommates are currently at the Woodloch Resort. The family-friendly destination in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains is the perfect place for the Jersey Shore cast to shoot. Now, the series features the cast’s significant others, making a mountain resort with plenty of activities the ideal destination. Fans have spent time pin-pointing similarities between the roommates’ social media posts and images from the mountain resort.

‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ Season 4 is shooting in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania

The Jersey Shore roommates have actively been posting photos from the picturesque mountains. Some fans thought they were shooting in Montana like the cast of Floribama Shore did at the end of 2020. Others thought they might be at a resort in New Jersey. As it turns out, the cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation is filming in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.

“Story [producers] had one week to figure out the story of my episode,” Martell explained. She was given a “paper cut,” a document with time codes for the best parts of the footage paired with descriptions of how editors should cut the scene. Martell’s work began the following week, where she had to edit one act.

The rest of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ Season 4 could air 4 weeks after shooting wraps

According to reality TV editor Dana MartellJSFV Season 4 could be ready four weeks after shooting wraps. While Martell has never worked on Jersey Shore, she has edited MTV series like The Challenge and The Real World. Martell explained via email how quickly a reality show could be filmed, edited, and packaged for television, citing The Challenge as an example. “You could get an episode from start to finish in about 10-12 weeks,” Martell said, detailing how the process works.

With the help of three other editors, Martell created the first internal cut of the episode featuring interviews, sound effects, graphics, and music. “After our internal cut, we have a cut due each week that needs to go to the network [for approval],” Martell added. “In total, I am on this show for four weeks. Everything that would take me about eight weeks to do, we’re doing it in half the time.”

While working on a truncated schedule like this can be challenging, reality TV editors always get the job done. If it’s possible, fans can bet 495 Productions will be working as fast as they can behind the scenes to crank out the rest of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 4 as quickly as they can.
